Travel Grants

As part of our mission to support education and research in HPB surgery, IHPBA and the IHPBA Foundation will provide a number of travel grants for surgeons in underserved regions, and Allied Health Professionals, to attend the 17th IHPBA World Congress. In addition a number of Trainee Grants will be offered to junior/trainee members.  These grants are intended to support individuals who are committed to research and the improvement of services in their own regions.  Only candidates who meet the eligibility should apply.

1. Trainee Grant Eligibility

Applicants should:

  • Be an IHPBA Junior Member.
    • E-A/AP: Trainees, residents or fellows enrolled in a programme of medical education or research, or a practicing surgeon under the age of 35 (with proof of birth date).
    • AHPBA: Junior members are residents or fellows enrolled in a recognised programme of medical education or research.
  • Be available to attend the full scientific programme of the Congress (29-31 October, 2026).
  • Have or be able to obtain the required documents for travel to Singapore.
  • Have an accepted abstract for presentation (oral, eposter, video, evideo)

Supporting Documents – Trainee/Junior Members 

  • A letter of recommendation is required from the applicant’s department chair, programme director or IHPBA chapter president. The letter must confirm that each of the eligibility criteria has been met prior to application.
  • A written statement from the applicant explaining why they are applying and the potential benefits for them if they are able to attend.

Administration of the Grant

  • Accommodation in a budget hotel will be provided by IHPBA for awardees for the nights of 28 – 30 October inclusive.
  • Complimentary registration to attend the World Congress will be provided

Sucessful applicants will be notified after 30 June 2026
